On January 25, 1981, a homicide occurred at The Moonwalk riverfront park, near the intersection of Decatur and Saint Peter streets. The victim in this incident, identified as Donald Cedric Faul, was stabbed multiple times and was declared on scene to be deceased. NOPD Homicide Section cold case detectives continue to investigate this incident and are seeking anyone with additional information that can aid the investigation to come forward.
Investigators say the main suspect wore a brown cowboy hat, appeared very thin, was about 35 years old, had a mustache and wore a long coat with two front pockets.
A second man is believed to have acted as a lookout and was described as having blond curly hair and wearing a rust-colored jacket.
Police are also trying to locate a witness who was walking dogs nearby just before the attack.
