What positions has this officer/deputy/trooper held within your agency?

Sergeant Jack Uhle began his career with the Louisiana State Police as a cadet in 2014 and since has served as a uniformed patrol Trooper, Plainclothes Detective and now Sergeant of Region1 Criminal Investigative Section.

Under the specific qualifications cited in our qualifications, please provide example(s) of what has this officer/deputy/trooper done that merits their nomination?

In late December 2024, Sgt. Uhle’s persistence in the cold case homicide of Thanh Nguyen led to the indictment and arrest of three suspects, bringing long-awaited justice to the victim’s family after more than a decade. Soon after, his investigative leadership in the homicide of Than Vu, a store employee who was killed in a robbery in the 4300 block of Alcee Fortier resulted in three arrests. He also helped coordinate the investigation into the February killing of Geron Elzie, who was murdered at Elysian Fields and Galvez. His assistance was integral to the arrests of two suspects. On January 1, 2025, Sgt. Uhle’s seamless coordination with NOPD during the terror attack in New Orleans demonstrated his ability to manage critical incidents through calm, decisive leadership and effective multi-agency communication. His collaboration ensured a unified response under extreme pressure, reinforcing the value of integrated operations between LSP and municipal partners.

Sgt. Uhle continued to lead with distinction throughout the year. His direction in the homicide investigation of Seth Chedville resulted in four arrests, removing violent offenders from the community and strengthening ongoing partnerships between LSP, the Attorney General’s Office, and local prosecutors.

In September 2025, Sgt. Uhle’s decisive leadership in the Bourbon Street shooting investigation led to the swift identification and arrest of the suspect. Shortly thereafter, his work in the carjacking and homicide of an Uber driver resulted in the identification of the offender through joint efforts with local detectives. In October 2025, he once again demonstrated his versatility and commitment by assisting the Critical Response Emergency Search Team by using investigative techniques at the Real Time Crime Center to aid in the quick recovery of a missing child during an Amber Alert, ensuring a safe and rapid resolution.

Is there a specific event which stands out that expresses how this officer/deputy/trooper has gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist?

Sgt. Uhle played a pivotal role in the May 16, 2025, Orleans Parish jail escape, where ten inmates, including Derrick Groves, a double homicide suspect awaiting sentencing, escaped custody. Leveraging his deep knowledge of the suspects and their criminal networks, Sgt. Uhle coordinated a multi-state, multi-agency manhunt involving the FBI (VCAIT), U.S. Marshals Service, NOPD, and detectives from Louisiana, Texas, and Atlanta. His persistence and coordination led to the capture of all ten escapees and 25 total arrests of escapees and their accomplices, nine of whom have already pled guilty. This complex operation exemplified Sgt. Uhle’s ability to unify law enforcement resources toward a shared mission of public safety.

How is this officer/deputy/trooper described by their peers?
