Most notably, Sergeant Hudson is a proactive deputy who does not just answer calls for service but proactively patrols, resulting in numerous felony drug interdictions.

Narcotics Agent
Sergeant Patrol
Under the specific qualifications cited in our qualifications, please provide example(s) of what has this officer/deputy done that merits their nomination?
Although Sergeant Hudson is a shift supervisor, he leads his shift in arrest statistics involving felony cases of both narcotics and illegal possession of firearms. He always leads by example as his work ethic has become contagious among his subordinates. Prior to Sergeant Hudson becoming the shift Sergeant his assigned shift was one of the lowest performing patrol squads in the department, today it is among the highest performing. As a shift supervisor he has also mentored several new patrol deputies teaching them to be proactive deputies that are an asset to the public safety mission of The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sergeant Hudson has proven to be an established leader as his subordinates and peers have nominated him for deputy of the quarter several times during 2025. He continues to use his over 20 years of law enforcement experience to teach and guide his shift and to serve the citizens of Plaquemines parish.
Is there a specific event which stands out that expresses how this officer/deputy has gone above and beyond the call of duty to assist?
In December of 2025 Sergeant Hudson investigated a hit and run incident in which a vehicle hit a utility pole and the driver fled from the scene. Hudson discovered the vehicle and an amount of narcotics (meth) in the vehicle, which was disabled on the scene. Upon discovering this he directed his patrol squad in a systematic investigation to locate the driver of the vehicle who had left the scene. Through investigation the suspect was identified and then located approximately 40 miles from the scene of the incident. Instead of just making an arrest for a hit and run incident, Hudson with his squad proactively continued to investigate the narcotics aspect of the case. As a result, He used his narcotics investigative experience to obtain a search warrant for the hit and run suspects residence. This led to the seizure of crystal meth and fentanyl at the residence resulting in numerous felony drug charges. Notably, two juvenile age children were living at the residence and DCFS was notified responding to the scene.
This investigation led by Sergeant Hudson is an example of a proactive investigation that went beyond the typical reactive patrol investigation it started out as. Hudson used his leadership and investigative experience to mentor and teach his squad to be proactive, thus better serving the community.
