An Open Letter of Sympathy to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Family of JPSO Deputy David Michel, Jr. and the Community from Crimestoppers GNO
Crimestoppers GNO offers their condolences to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Family of JPSO Deputy David Michel, Jr. who was shot to death today while making a pedestrian stop on Manhattan Blvd. Deputy Michel served in the specialized Street Crimes unit, which speaks very highly of his work ethic, experience and dedication to the safety of our citizens. President and CEO Darlene Cusanza, Crimestoppers states: "We are deeply saddened for Deputy David Michel’s family and fellow Deputies and for the entire community. There is one less “Angel in Blue” protecting us and one more family mourning a senseless killing. Our thoughts and prayers are offered to the Michel’s family, JPSO, and to the community for healing."
As Co- Chair of our Crimestoppers newly formed "Faith Based" partnership entitled 'Project Good Samaritan,' The Most Reverend Archbishop Gregory Aymond, Archdiocese of New Orleans stated: "Law enforcement personnel give of their lives to protect others – they should never be a target of someone’s violence. My prayers go out to Deputy Michel’s family and his fellow deputies"
Today’s brazen act of violence against a law enforcement officer cannot be tolerated by our community.
We as citizens must stand united against violence and urge citizens to take a stand against crime and criminal behavior by speaking up when they have information on acts of crime and certainly in the death of Deputy Michel. The JPSO has asked for anyone with video/photos of the shooting to contact JPSO.
